Big Apley Pool is set within the outskirts of Apley Wood Park. The pool is well protected by woodland and is one of the favorite pools on our portfolio. Big Apley Pool really does cater for all types of angling however, this is a must for the avid carp angler as there are many carp growing to specimen sizes.

Is Big Apley Disabled Friendly?
Yes, Many of the pegs at Big Apley Pool are accessible to the disabled angler. The paths and pegs around the pool have recently been overhauled and are well maintained.
Please be aware of your own capabilities as TAA expect ALL anglers to assess the area they wish to fish before, during, and after their session.
How Many Pegs Are There At Big Apley?
There are 34 pegs at Big Apley. Many of the pegs have been renewed with modern materials to withstand the weather, and use for years to come. Some of the pegs have staging into the pool which helps with getting your traps in the deeper water right away however, there is more than enough room around the pegs for fishing in the shallows for those BIG summer fish!

Big Apley is a favorite in the Telford and Shropshire Carp Angling scene, and is a well frequented "runs water" where you can catch many good sized fish in a single session. There is plenty of room on most of the pegs for your shelter so you are able to fish and keep dry and warm too!

Can I Night Fish At Big Apley?
Night fishing on Big Apley Pool is strictly controlled by the TAA keepers. Only those who have a "Night Permit" are permitted to fish during the night. ALL persons with Night Permits MUST be in possession of a TAA Membership Card. Night Permits, and how to Obtain one is detailed in the video below, and on our Facebook Page.
Baits And Methods At Big Apley?
Whether you're a course anger, or you favor carp fishing tactics, you really can't go wrong at Big Apley Pool.
If you are targeting Roach, Rudd, Perch, Gudgeon and Bream, you cant beat the usual course fishing methods such as Pole, Waggler (float) , Feeder and Bomb tactics. Maggots, Casters, Hemp, a good quality groundbait, pellets, sweetcorn and small bandable boilies and wafters will always get the attention of the fish in Big Apley.
If you are targeting the many good sized carp, with carp fishing tactics, many of the best fish are caught using PVA bags with pellet, particle feed with boilies, wafters and pop-ups on the hook.
Spodding is allowed on the pool however, please keep in mind that the pool isn't very deep, has a high bio-load of fish and can cause water quality issues in the hotter months.
