Blue Pool

"Former clay quarry targeted by the specimen angler"

Blue Pool is set within the outskirts of the Telford Town Park. The pool is is former clay quarry that was used by the former Randlay Brickworks.

The pool is named due to the natural blue colour of the water which on a summer day is very striking. This colouration is due to the clay that the pool was originally dug out for.

The Blue Pool is fairly low stocked compared to our other waters however, the stock is generally of a specimen size.

The Blue Pool is by no means an "easy" water, however, those that put the time in reap the rewards.

Is The Blue Pool Disabled Friendly?

Getting to the pool is not disabled friendly unless you have a special parking permit. Many of the pegs are large, and flat around the pool, so getting to the pegs is easy for the angler. The pegs around the rocks however, are not suitable for those with mobility issues.

How Many Pegs Are There At The Blue Pool?

There are approximately 10 pegs around the pool. These are generally clearings rather than purpose built pegs, and the pool can be fished from most accessible areas which makes it ideal for stalking.

There is plenty of room for those who like to night fish using a bivvy.

Can I Night Fish At The Blue Pool?

Night fishing on the Blue Pool is allowed for adult (18 and over) TAA members as part of their ticket. The pool can be night fished all year.

Baits And Methods At The Blue?

Whether you're a course anger, or you favor carp or Pike fishing tactics, you really can't go wrong at The Blue Pool.

If you are targeting Roach, Perch and Bream, you cant beat the usual course fishing methods such as Waggler (float) , Feeder and Bomb tactics. Maggots, Casters, Hemp, a good quality groundbait, pellets, sweetcorn and small bandable boilies and wafters will always get the attention of the fish in the Blue Pool.

If you are targeting the many good sized carp, with carp fishing tactics, many of the best fish are caught using PVA bags with pellet, particle feed with boilies, wafters and pop-ups on the hook.

Spodding is allowed on the pool.

Deadbaits (course and Sea) are best used for the Pike and Catfish in the pool. Lures can and do work also however, there are many snags in the pool to include buildings, machinery and objects left from the quarrying at the site. In the summer months, the pool can also become weedy in areas.

**PLEASE THINK OF FISH CARE AND FISH SAFETY AT ALL TIMES ON TAA WATERS, WE WOULD LIKE OUR FISH TO LIVE LONG AND HAPPY LIVES**
