Before You Buy, You MUST agree To The Association Rules.
TAA CORE RULES
RULE #1:
Members must be in possession of a current EA licence and Association permit and be able to produce them to a TAA Bailiff or Official on demand.
RULE #2:
Members unable to produce a valid membership permit must purchase a day ticket.
RULE #3:
Members must observe the statutory closed season for coarse fish on rivers, and conform to Association rules and those of their members club. PLEASE NOTE, GAME FISHING IS NOT PERMITTED ON OUR STRETCHES OF THE RIVER SEVERN.
RULE #4:
Members must always keep to paths where possible, close all gates and not interfere with crops and wildlife.
RULE #5:
No tins (e.g. sweet corn, luncheon meat) to be taken on TAA waters, NO FIRES to be lit, No Camping, TAKE YOUR LITTER AND USED LINE HOME. The peg you fish is your responsibility. Leave as you would want to find the peg yourself.
RULE #6:
BARBLESS HOOKS ONLY ON ANY ASSOCIATION STILL WATERS.
RULE #7:
No surface fishing or floating baits on any Association still waters. All “ZIGS” to be under the surface of the water and removed from any area where wildlife may come into contact with it.
RULE #8:
Night fishing allowed on designated waters only see details on the water pages.
RULE #9:
NO spinning and NO treble hooks allowed on Apley pool. Treble hooks are allowed on other waters only when pike fishing and MUST BE BARBLESS OR DE-BARBED.
RULE #10:
NO FISH TO BE RETAINED IN KEEP-NETS OR SACKS for more than 5 hours. Keep-nets in Apley must be staked out. All nets, sacks and retainers to be clean and “bone dry” before fishing any TAA waters. See the “Check - Clean - Dry” campaign for further info on why.
RULE #11:
Juniors 16 and under must be with an adult on all TAA waters. No persons under 18 years of age are allowed to fish nights without consent from TAA first and only with a FULL member Adult. THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO SPECIAL PERMIT POOLS (Apley Pool, Priorslee Flash and Trench Pool).
RULE #12:
All fish including pike and eels must be returned alive to the waters. Any person found to be stealing fish from TAA waters will be reported to the Police. This does not matter if you plan to take them home or to another water, THEFT IS THEFT. All reports to the Police will be followed and prosecution for “Theft Of A Fishery” will be requested. This also applies if you are caught with fish in a bucket, net or container etc, for the purpose of storing fish dead or alive. IF YOU ARE A TAA MEMBER, YOU WILL BE ISSUED AN IMMEDIATE BAN FOR LIFE. EACH TIME YOU ARE SEEN ON OR ABOUT TAA WATERS, IT WILL BE REPORTED TO THE POLICE.
RULE #13:
Maximum of allowed rods in use is 3 rods per angler, with a 3 rod EA Licence. You MUST NOT intrude into any other pegs or swim occupied by another angler without their consent. A 50% of water space between anglers must be observed whether or not the other angler is using the space or not. ASK THEM FIRST, but be prepared to move if another person occupies the peg/swim if required to do so following asking them about where you both will be angling from.
RULE #14:
NO LIVE BAITING ON STILL WATERS. ONLY FISH CAUGHT ON THE SAME STRETCH OF THE SEVERN ARE PERMITTED AND NO LARGER THAN 10oz IN WEIGHT.
RULE #15:
TAA Contests will be fished to modified Angling Trust rules. Cub matches can use their own match rules so long as they fall within these core rules.
RULE #16:
Any angler contravening TAA Rules shall be disciplined as decided by the executive committee. This will be following reports from TAA Bailiffs which is then reported on our register. You may be given a partial or full life ban depending on the seriousness of the offence. In severe cases, you will be notified by letter to your registered address. Failure to inform TAA of any changes of contact details is not an excuse for "not receiving TAA communications".
RULE #17:
NO BOATS or bait boats of any sort on TAA waters except for official work parties.
RULE #18:
NO DIGGING OF BANKS WITHOUT PRIOR PERMISSION FROM TAA.
RULE #19:
TAA RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE OR RESCIND MEMBERSHIP without refund in the case of misdemeanour. (Please see above).
RULE #20:
All Anglers must follow the instructions of TAA Committee and Bailiffs, including Town Park Rangers and Local Authorities.
RULE #21:
Fish must be placed on an unhooking mat or cradle for photos, Not on the ground or platform. Fish must be over an unhooking mat when being weighed. There must be a landing net per person fishing. All Carp to be treated with the correct antiseptic agents as necessary. Fish care to be taken at all times.
RULE #22:
You must fish in designated pegs, NOT in between pegs. This includes "stalking". This rule does NOT APPLY to the River Severn.
RULE #23:
NO RECREATIONAL DRUGS ON TAA WATERS, This is anywhere on the pegs or banks of the venues. Any person found to be taking or SELLING recreational drugs will be reported to the Police immediately. Any person found to be taking or selling recreational drugs on public or council land will also be reported to the Police. IF FOUND YOU WILL RECEIVE AN INSTANT BAN OF NO LESS THAN 12 MONTHS, NO WARNINGS - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
RULE #24:
You may drink responsibly when fishing BUT.. You will be asked to leave TAA waters if you are found to be disturbing the peace or acting antisocially due to the intake of ALCOHOL. ALL empty cans and bottles are to be taken home. Any of these instances will result in an official warning. If you are seen to be intoxicated and decide to drive your vehicle, it is the duty of all TAA Bailiffs, members and the public to report this to the Police. DRINK DRIVING KILLS. You will be issued with a ban if found to be risking lives of no less than 12 months (It will be a life ban if drink driving causes an accident).
RULE #25:
TAA Bailiffs can remove permits with authority of the Head Bailiff/Chairman and the outcome will be decided at the next meeting with a chance to appeal by letter to your nearest tackle shop or contact TAA on the Contact Form.
RULE #26:
TAA works on a "THREE STRIKE RULE" for minor infringements of the above rules. Severity will be decided by the Bailiffs and/or TAA Committee. All instances are recorded.
Night fishing rules operate on a "SINGLE STRIKE RULE" as fishing nights is a privilege. Night Fishing rules can be found HERE.

TAA Bailiffs have the right to ask to see your Environment Agency Fishing License as per TAA rules above. Failure to produce will result in removal from our waters until it can be shown.
